Projects/Santa Ana Wind Study
|
A new project to understand the effects of Santa Ana
winds on Santa Catalina Island and the Southern
California Bight is being formulated. With the acronym
SAWS (Santa Ana Wind Study), this will be the inaugural
program of the Society celebrating its incorporation.
SAWS will feature a comprehensive view of the Bight,
gathering together data from a variety of sources to
investigate the effects of Santa Ana winds on upwellings,
mixing, waves, currents and biological productivity.
The initial study of the program's feasibility can be found
via the links at the left as well as some data examples.
